SINGAPORE AIRLINES
Can there be “a class beyond first class,” as Singapore Airlines claims to offer? According to Raymond Kollau of Airlinetrends.com, “Singapore Airlines is raising the bar with its new A380s, which feature 12 suites that are like cabins on an ocean liner.” Suites have sliding doors, armchair-like seats, a 23-inch wall-mounted LCD screen and a stationary drawer with writing supplies. Each suite also has its own full-sized flat bed with pillows and fine linen by Givenchy. And, in a first for commercial aviation, for couples traveling together, the sleeping areas in the middle seats can be converted to double beds.
Want a seat? SIN A380s fly from Los Angeles to Tokyo and in January will add a route between New York (JFK) and Frankfurt. Both flights continue to Singapore. Fares for a round-trip suite from LAX to SIN begin at around $12,000.
